I have quite a long story which started last November when I had a pacemaker fitted for heart pauses , tachycardia and bradycardia . A few days later I needed the leads replaced as one had moved , I was rushed to hospital with the worse pain on left side of chest and left arm. Paramedics couldn’t say if it was a heart attack or something else . Anyway the lead had put a hole in the heart causing the infection and effusion . I have been admitted twice more with the infection , last admittance was Christmas Eve ,the infection had got worse so I was put on IV medication as well as tablets . I was allowed home December 30th with very strict instructions to go back immediately if any of my cardiac symptoms got worse , I narrowly avoided needing the fluid drained . After my discharge I knew to rest much more than I had been . I had my follow up appointment Wednesday and I was told my heart was enlarged over Christmas and I’d had a very severe case of the infection but it’s looking better now and things are starting to improve . I have to have another echo scan and a CT angiogram to check the coronary arteries . I’m just a bit concerned about any long term effects on my heart as it was enlarged , could that cause me any problems in the future ? If anyone has had pericarditis did that cause problems with the arteries ? Thanks to anyone that can offer any information x

I have limited knowledge of heart enlargement but believe that it can fix itself with no ongoing issues providing the source of the problem is known and fixed. It may be worth looking at the yorkcardiology videos by Dr Gupta on youtube, I seem to remember one about an enlarged heart and anothers on a pacemaker
