Frequent PAC's/PVC's

I am a 48 year old endurance athlete who has been having frequent (5,000-6,000+) PAC's a day. I have had numerous tests done (Holter, Stress, Nuclear Stress etc..) Does not seem to be any underlying heart disease as far as they can tell. I used to only get them for short periods of time after hard bike rides (2-5+ hours) or after a hard race, then they would resolve. Fast forward a few years and I have them all day long and it has gotten extremely unnerving. Doctor gave me calcium channel blockers with no response. I don't want to take beta blockers because of the side effects. Anybody have any information on this? It has totally altered my life. Looking for any kind of information or help?! Thank you in advance.

My son similar age, athletic, keen cyclist developed the same symptoms which progressed to requiring ablation. If you are determined enough, try completely eliminating alchohol, caffeine and spiced foods. To get a recording of the symptoms for our doctor, we used Kardia app with the hand held sensor to record and e-mail the necessary ECG. It costs about £100.

It is apparently not unusual for cyclists to develop this condition, but excessive alchohol, and digestive (Vagus nerve) are considered causes. These may not be helped by mental stress.

Hope this helps and you feel better soon.

Thank you for the advice. Quick question, did the ablation help your sons condition? My doctor says that they typically will not ablate PAC's/PVC's unless you are well into the 20,000+ a day because I think at that rate it can start to structurally weaken your heart.

Try taking magnesium for at least six months (The blood test is misleading as your body always tries to keep the amount in the blood at a specific level, at the expense of your stores. You need those stores)

Accept that Endurance athletics is actually bad for your health, and decrease the demands you put on your body/heart in this way. Try reading 'The Haywire Heart' written by Dr John Mandrola, a cardiologist and cyclist.

My cardiologist said channel blockers which I was taking for svt would not help ectopics very much & BBlockers were far better at reducing burden of ectopics
