Hi all

I have been dealing with pvcs for years and I never took medication for it. Now they’ve gotten worse and I had to to the ER yesterday. They prescribed metoprolol 25mg but to take half the pill in the am and the other 12 hours later. So last evening after getting home from the hospital I took half a pill and felt good. This morning before I took the other half I had hard thuds again. My question is when does the meds take full effect and why would I still Experience if I started meds already. Please help I’m losing my mind here.

I have been on metoprolol for about 5 years. does not do much for me. cardiologist added mexiletine. took it for about 10 days. made me sick and dizzy. scheduled to see my gp soon and will discuss it with him. I have about resigned myself to the pvcs. I have only had the "thuds" once. don't want them again.

Check with your doctor but I find metoprolol tartrate (make sure yours is tartrate not succinate) lasts only 6-8 hrs, I take mine at waking then early afternoon, I don’t need it at night or I guess I’d take it after dinner too.
