Was diagnosed last may with Multifocal atrial tachycardia, I am on Metoprolol 50 mg. Had a tough day yesterday Flutter and Thumps. I have an appointment toward the end of the month to see a cardiologist. I have had the halter moniter twice. They say my heart is normal just concern that yesterday it went on the flutter and thumps all day and evening. Metoprolol helps some. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sorry that you have had no replies. This is a very sleepy forum!
Lots of people have a normal heart, with no problems except an occasional fast or quirky rhythm. Have you had an echocardiogram? This would give your cardiologist a clearer picture.
Hi there, it sounds like you have typical AF as you've described exactly what most of us experience. It's horrible isn't it, but most unlikely to kill you. Know that you are not on your own and we are here to offer any support we can. I've had it for 14 years and am still here to tell the tale, as are many others. When it first started with me I was terrified, but now I just accept it and do my best to carry on with life. Stress and becoming anxious appears to feed the condition, so do your best to stay calm and practice deep breathing.
Some people have found that taking magnesium has reduced the intensity of their attacks, as has changing to a plant based diet and avoiding any artificial additives.
It may be an idea if your heart misbehaves again to try to get to your doctors surgery for an ECG, so it can be seen just what is going on when you have these attacks. Are you seeing a cardiologist or an electrophsyiologist (EP) a specialist in heart rhythms?
Please feel free to ask any questions and bear in mind that we say there's no such thing as a daft one.
Wishing you well.

yes I do see a cardiologist and she up my metoprolol to 50mg twice a day. I do take a magnesium pill 500mg every day too. I just saw her today and they did a EKG also you looked at the echo they had done too a little while ago and found nothing out of wack just that my heart beats regular then fast for a bit then back to regular. She said she see's it a lot and that just be aware of what my body is telling me. Also she encourages exercise with this too. Thanks for your advice. Kim
I was also diagnosed with MAT but this may have been a misdiagnosis, I have subsequently been diagnosed with Atrial Flutter in December and having an EP study/ablation next Tuesday to identify what it is I have and hopefully fix it or at least improve the symptoms. What I can say from experience is that clearly you heart is irritated, you need to keep it calm (listen to your body), do very little and no coffee, tea and alcohol until you see the Cardiologist or better still the EP. Try doubling up on the magnesium which may help slightly.
