Suffered for 6 years. My resting pulse is 44, I’m fairly fit due to my job. I have skipped/ extra beats everyday, sometimes they feel more violent than others. My pulse also speeds up for about 5 seconds then goes back to normal. I’ve seen a GP twice, had Holter monitor twice, and had my heart scanned with a weird machine. I sometimes wake up with my heart racing, sleep is always fragmented, and I often dread going to bed because of it. I’ll give the NHS another try, thinking about going down the private route, wonder if anyone’s done that. It’s effecting my mental health now, as I don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for reading.

You mirror me completely! It’s awful suffering this, people don,t know what it’s like because it affects you 24 hours a day. Good luck with the failing NHS. I live outside London, it seems to be worse than more remote areas.
I hear you! It is mental anguish to try and live with irregular heartbeats day after day. I am 73 now and have had them since I was a child. But I consider myself so lucky to still be here and am able to do everything I’ve always done. It’s my only symptom, for which I’m lucky but at the same time it’s so hard to cope with this. Good luck.
I,m 72 soon, I,ve had it since I was 28 that I know of, I was more aware of it when a doctor picked it up when I had breathing problems.
I have svt and the worry is often all consuming. I take flecainide and nadalol but some days the weird beats and the knowledge my heart could suddenly go over 220 bpm is something I revisit in my mind often . Also, the meds make me very tired, really fatigued. I'm in the USA and have gotten a second opinion and am considering going to Cleveland which is touted as being the best here.
I wish you luck.
I’m in Ohio USA and have a very good cardiologist but would like to know what Cleveland has to offer?
Thanks for the reply’s. Has anyone had success with acupuncture. I’ve tried it, doesn’t seem to do anything. Also changing diet. I’ve stopped drinking coffee and eating chocolate. I’ve even stopped having a beer, which is the worst.
Hi I had the same issue until I was optimally medicated. At one point my heart rate slowed so much they considered a pacemaker even though they couldn’t find a problem with my heart they acknowledge I was bradycardic.
I was diagnosed in january with Hashimotos and at the time my blood pressure was dropping to 60/40 with a resting heart rate was 33 with no diagnosis or reason. I also had problems with high blood sugars and was diagnosed diabetic.
As soon as I was diagnosed and medicated for my thyroid the problems gradually improved until I was back in the normal range for blood pressure and heart rate, although I do have occasional problems it’s bithinv like before diagnosis. I am also not DIABETIC! T3 is responsible for the rate the heart beats, regulating blood pressure and blood sugar.
Is your thyroid optimally medicated ?
