Teen with SVT
Hi, I've been suffering with SVT since I was 16. Nearly 10 years later and still suffering, please feel free to message me if you have any questions from a patients perspective x
Thanks so much Sophie, we are at the start of this journey so any advice greatly appreciated, we are going to a Cry screening this weekend and do have an appointment in September with a general cardiologist, AA suggested my daughter should see a Paediatric Physiologist in our local Teaching children's hospital. I have tried to do a little research but very little to find can you recommend any sites/sources please?
I'm not entirely sure what sites or resources there are out there as it's such a 'newly' found condition there isn't a great deal of support or sites out there. I know arrhythmia alliance & British heart foundation have information and facts about SVT and the British heart foundation are about to launch a new scheme for young adults that have been diagnosed with any conditions that would be worth looking out for. All I can say is every journey is different for each individual. I definitely recommend finding someone of a similar age of your daughter for her to talk with as I've found sharing experiences with others is really useful and reassuring. I have written a blog on my entire journey with SVT which might give you a tiny insight of what POSSIBLY could be ahead. I only say it like that as I said everyone is different and different cardiologists recommend different things.

Sorry for the long response and sorry I'm not more helpful and I wish you and your daughter all the best and luck possible but like I said feel free to message me anytime.
Hi there my daughter is also 14 and was diagnosed with svt almost 4 years ago. I write on this blog when something catches my eye. I think the parents journey is as equally traumatic as for the girls. As in one of your other replies every episode can be different not just for each individual but my daughter has different types of episodes too. Sometimes it jumps to 180 bpm( or more) from as low as in the 50s or sometimes it just flutters and sometimes it feels irregular which she hates the most. If it jumps to palpitations she can usually slow it down herself by sitting high and putting her head between her legs whilst straining(as if going to the loo) this is usually very effected but she has had a few trips to the hospital too to have it slowed down when she is unsuccessful. She does a fair amount of horse riding and find that it can go hand in hand with exercise. Rather than ramble on if there's anything i can tell you please let me know. Ive found this site invaluable when knowing youre not alone
