A scary 16hrs....

It was Sunday early evening about 5pm and my palpitations started. Having had them before on and off over the last few years I didn't think much to them. After it be consistent for the next few hrs I started to worry. About 11.45 pm I decided that I should ask someone about my problem so phoned NHS direct. They told me to go straight to A&E so off I went. I had a Blood test, blood pressure and also an ECG. All were normal. Waited to see the doctor for more than 7hrs and still having the palpitations only then to be told to go to my GP and let them refer me to the Cardiologist so they can fit me with a 24hr heart monitor. As soon as I laid down to have another ECG at the doctors it stopped!!! Very strange after such a long time. I've had them before but just a few a wk and mainly singular accurances. I have cut out caffeine for a couple of yrs now too. It's the not knowing why it's doing it that bothers me.

Just go to your GP and get them to refer you to an Electrophysiologist (EP) and get the tests rolling.

Thank you I'll remember that in future. Will see what the outcome of the monitor is first and then follow up.
