I need another Aortic Valve replacement following one I had 7 years ago. At that time I had open heart surgery and I recovered very well. This time I am being offered the option of a TAVI but am unsure which is the safest and best long term option to go for. I am fit and otherwise healthy in my 60s I am obviously discussing with my consultant but I wondered what experiences others may have? Many thanks

hi there. I had a TAVI Aortic valve replacement in February last February with great success. I had a BOVINE valve and have had no trouble at all. I recovered really quickly and fee 100% better than before. I only have to take 75 mg aspirin a day, for life. If you have a Mechanical valve you have to go on my more potent blood thinners for life. The whole procedure was no problem either. Good luck with your decision. Whichever it is, I’m sure it will be the right one for you !!
