Hearing aids
I suggest having the phone on speaker mode. Alternatively, if you have a behind the ear type of aid, move the phone earpiece up to where the aid is rather than in the usual position by your ear canal. Concerning the bus driver, I suspect that's because he's behind some sort of plastic screen and that's going to make it difficult anyway. That's their problem so I wouldn't apologise. Speech in noise is always difficult. I have an option on my aids which I can set on my phone that improves that but that is a top end, private set.
Thanks
I have been wearing hearing aids for many years so please persevere as they can take a while to settle in. I have never found the phone easy so I either take one out or use a loop. You can buy from about £20. It fits into the phone jack and you put it round your neck. It transmits sound wirelessly to the aids. Great too for music and audio books ! Check it out on Amazon. Jack induction loop.
Hi I have been wearing aids for almost 20 years and I still have problems with checkout staff/ shop assistants etc. But persevere and you will get used to them. I have a streamer for mobile phone, iPad and TV and I wouldn’t be without it, but it is more expensive than lallym’s solution. I do find the mobile phone easier to hear than the landline, but yes phones are a problem. I tend to FaceTime my family as hearing is easier if you can see them😂
The worse your hearing gets over the years, the more help you need. I am waiting to get a free caption telephone. I have needed it for years and finally my hearing aid supplier recommended that I get one. I am so happy about it--can't wait.
