Please advise?

I am 65, have a benign cyst on an ovary which has been there at least 18 months. The consultant wants me to have a full/total hysterectomy (am in UK so that means total). I am unsure if I should agree as worried about totally losing oestrogen, and some stuff I've heard and read about how you have a higher chance of heart disease, arterial plaque, weight gain etc after (I do understand it is different when as old as me, one reason I ask). If you have gone through any of this or know anyone who has I would appreciate your input please. The consultant talks as if it is as simple as having everything removed and then taking hrt if necessary. I want to think this over carefully in case I agree and regret it later. Thank you.

I definitely have not gained wait, due to increased energy after the surgery. I think they don't advise hysterectomies lightly, so if they are advising it, they will think it's for the best. I felt a literal weight loss from the size and weight of my womb going. Get '101 tips for a happy hysterectomy' and bear in mind that there's so much more they can do these days to make it a smoother operation and recovery. Even my scarring (vertical incision), is pretty light these days (not even 2 months on) x
