Is avocado good for your heart? My doctor has me on blood pressure and cholesterol meds, so trying to eat foods that help reduce cholelsterol and are good for the cardiovascular system.
A friend told me that avocados are great. That they reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. But there is a lot of conflicting evidence online. Some sites say they are high in fat. Not good news if you have high cholesterol.
Please help. I really enjoy eating them.

Not all fats are equal, and avocados are high in the good fats we benefit most from in the diet (mono- and poly-unsaturated fats), while having no trans fats, which are the ones you really want to avoid.
A certain amount of fat in the diet is essential (hence why they're called essential fatty acids), so you might as well investigate where you can get them from good sources
Consuming two avocado each week can reduce the risk of developing coronary heart disease by 21 per cent, according to research published in the Journal of the American Heart Association.
Avocado contains rich amount of calorie, so people should take limited amount is good for the heart health.
The best thing that can help you with cholesterol is Omega-3.
Both the sets of articles you're reading are right: avocados are very fatty, but the fat they contain is healthier fat than you'd find in some other foods because a proportion of it is Omega-3 fatty acids.
If you want a lot of Omega-3 your best source for that is 'dark' fish like salmon, herring, mackerel, anchovies or tuna. You can also get it from walnuts, flaxseed, chia seeds, things like that. You'll get more from those sources than from avocados. But avocados are still good.
Everything in moderation as they say. Don't start having 5 avocados a day haha.
