Hi Alicia,

The chefs are the veggie versions of Heston Blumenthal. There’s nothing run of the mill on the veggie or vegan menus. Everything but Adam’s cheese & my ice cream was plant based.

Ooh, how yummy.

I've printed off a recipe for Vegan Chilli and am looking forward to making it which might be tomorrow.

Hi Mel, this looks like a delicious spread and the dish top left looks very interesting 😋 and you're so right about vegan food and real food. So good for you, I'm glad you treated yourself.

Jerry 😊

Ps you're making me hungry...

It was, Jerry!

Top left was tiny balls of poached pear with pear jelly cubes, marzipan ice cream, black currant purée, & rose syrup. I could easily have eaten at least twenty! 😁 Looking forward to my next birthday treat!

This looks lovely, Can I ask were did you buy your Tofu from and how did you make it look so crispy? That dessert is looking great too : >

Hi Debs,

There’s no tofu on the menu. I can only dream of making anything this fancy. I think what you’re referring to is cheese in breadcrumbs.

You should be able to get it at any supermarket, I usually got mine from Ocado before I stopped eating it. They have tempeh, too.

Sorry Mel, I certainly need new classes. I have never had much luck cooking Tofu even with the weight tip : <

What happens to it?

I used to get the organic marinaded type, can’t remember the company, though I know they also do nice teas. 😀

I just fried it.

Fresh tofu is softer in texture, & silken tofu almost custard like in texture.

I’ve had it cooked in five spice powder in restaurants, which is really tasty. Think it’s just sliced, rolled in the powder, then fried or baked.

Hello Mel, was it the Dragonfly marinated tofu - I loved that but had such a bad reaction, so could know longer eat it. My tofu is so bland and I guess rubbery, I have so much on my can't eat list that I'm not sure what I could marinade it with xx

Hi Debs,

That’s the one!

If you have hypothyroidism, it’s best avoided altogether. Can you get tempeh? It’s quite different in taste & texture, though just as good for cooking. I’ve ordered some maple tempeh for a treat. 😀

Hello Badhare,

I had a response show up on my my phone for you but is not showing on here - how bizzare.

That is a great point about Tofu & Hypothyroidism, the past 6 months i have been having unsweetened soya milk in my tea, approx 3 cups a day, maybe 4 at a maximum and my TSH has gone up - could by a coincidence I guess.

I have never had Tempeh or seen it in the shops but I will keep a look out

Best wishes

Debs
