hi there my son who had a brain injury 4 years ago is now saying he can’t see the letters on the tv screen so I took him to the optician for an eye test they said his eyesight has not changed scince the last appointment so he still doesn’t need glasses I said well can I just buy a cheap pair of distance glasses for him and he said it would make no difference scince it’s more likely to be the injury that’s causing it. I don’t know what to do I’ve been to drs and they said that they will see what they can do about referrals for either a neurologist or an eye doctor but they had no idea if they could help. Is he going blind? Please help! He is only 25 years old
thank you

Hi, I went through all this and solved the problem. You will need to see an OPTOMETRIST not an optician or standard ophthalmologist. The NHS can't help either because they don't recognize optometry at the moment.
You will need to go private so here's a site for you:
You may want to get yourself informed about vision and visual processing. The eye is only a lens that transfers information to the brain for processing.
There is no one in the NHS that can help; I've been through all that nonsense, they will end up telling you it's a psychological problem or cause by depression etc. Don't waste your time and go private instead.
Here's some more info for you to look at; it's from the US and is miles ahead of anything the NHS does.
This is a video about an artificial intelligence professor that had the same issues. It inspired me to think differently and try optometry and astonishingly it worked.
Hi, sorry, sometimes it says it's not working but if you click on it may work, here's a different one and the algorithms should bring other content on this subject up for you too.
Hi jjI live in Canada and we have neuro opticians here - some have the interest and some don't.
They assess how the brain works with the eyes and can rx special lenses, colors if lenses, and do a program of exercises to help the person learn to see better.
There are no standards of practise and programs and cost vary here quite a lot.
The glasses test part is worth it even if you don't try the rest.
For example, the eye may start darting around the page rather than going along the line. The person can't tell.they are doing it. They test for this and other things.
Hi, I have the same that I can't see the TV and had eye test and that I dont need glasses as it is the brain part that reads what the vision sees. It comes and goes, and when it gets worse, I use eye movement desensitisation exercises. I have no help and wish you all the best.
Xx
Hi here's another visual testing system, there's a drop down box on the menu where you can find specialists in your area.
