PIP tribunal TBI

Tomorow I have to attend my PIP tribunal hearing. I suffered my brain injury four and a half years ago and have now been in the PIP system for 16 months. I have to attend to defend the invisible disability I suffer, all I ask for is to be seen by the establishment not just the medical community.

I was diagnosed with post concussion syndrome and have been through neurology, neuropsychology and neuropsychology therapy. Headway have been a massive support and it is they that pointed me down the road of Neuropsychology to which I am so thankful.

Tomorrow is my D-Day, I scored zero on my DWP assessment, no medical records swerved their mind. I floundered in this purgatory, no news, no updates and no contact. I was losing the plot, hanging on by my finger tips and knew I needed further assistance.

I contacted my MP #peterkylemp, he responded in 19 minutes to the email I sent him that took me two hours to compose. That day after his intervention His Majesties Courts & Tribunal Service booked me in for tomorrow.

Am I scared: yes, am I nervous: yes, am I prepared: I hope so. I simply slipped while getting out of a car and my right frontal lobe hit the corner of a granite curb stone (Ironically in Royal Tunbridge Wells where the Pantiles were made because a princess tripped).

PIP is a bastard, even parliament officers readily except this. This needs to be changed.

Good luck, I'm rooting for you. You did the right thing going to your MP, other people should do the same.

Hi and good luck. Your case sounds strong and it sounds like you have the backing of your mp.

Remember as well the majority of cases win on appeal. I speak from experience as my appeal took minutes. Once all the evidence was looked at( which was sent with my original application) they all voted approval.

This was years ago and the only hiccup was prior assessment when my social worker asked what medical assessor would be present and if it wasn't to be someone in neuro then it should be.

Good luck , not that you will need it.

Good luck Chenz. I’ve just submitted an amendment to my PIP and now awaiting their decision. I’m hoping they are more helpful this time after only being awarded £109 pm to live on for the last 10 months! 👍
