Was rushed to hospital with stroke symptoms and no speach whatsoever. Spent two weeks in Warrington hospital B14 ward and was treated for brain infection with various IV antibiotics. Had various scans one at the Walton centre. Have been left with brocas aphasia and some other symptoms like drooling from time to time.
Waiting for speach and language therapy but have various apps downloaded.
It's very frustrating. I can say individually words but not sentences.
Moving on with life as best I can . I have spoken app on my phone but am determined to have the confidence to speak when out like in Costa etc. Have been paraplegic also for ten years.

From my limited understanding of Broca's aphasia I believe there are various treatments for improving speech. I gather speech therapy (including singing and repetition), mechanical brain stimulation and medication are all options depending on suitability.
I guess you have the advantage of awareness and the need to tackle the problem ; other types of aphasia don't include awareness which has obvious drawbacks..
I hope your speech/language therapy is the key to your regaining speech ; you're obviously already personally engaged in efforts to beat this ! We don't appreciate the value of everyday functioning 'til we're forced to cope without it do we Dave ? (hope this one's only temporary).
Thanks I really appreciate that. Am waiting for Warrington Speech and language therapy to happen. I have downloaded some apps from tge app store. Tactus I think. Am finding confidence to live life without speaking and have found everyone in cafe or shops to be really patient and understanding. I had an eye test yesterday at asda optician and the guy wax brilliant and very patient. Thanks fir the reply.
