Just thought I would introduce myself. I am Helen from Birmingham and I recently suffered a traumatic head injury which resulted in an incidental finding of a 7.8mm left PCOM aneurysm. I am now on the waiting list for surgery.

This is all new to me so thought I would join a community where hopefully I can meet and chat to others. 😀

Hi Helen, welcome to this fantastic forum , sorry to hear about your injury!! I'm on this forum as my son had an accident 2 yrs ago and was flown to QE, in ICU in coma for a week then another 3 weeks in hospital , he's slowly on the mend, but living with a TBI is lonely at times, hope you have your surgery soon. This is a great community as you're not alone. Sarah xx

Hello Helen and welcome. Headway has been my safe space for over 10 years since a ruptured aneurism in Dec 2011. It's a place where we talk with likeminded folk who really 'get' the issues associated with brain injury.

My brilliant family are patient and understanding but I know it's human nature for them to just want their mum back in one piece and functioning ok, so I try to keep a positive slant on things. But this forum has been a constant source of reassurance over the years ; it's the one place we can share concerns, frustrations, everyday events (and occasional silliness) without judgement or raised eyebrows !

There's mutual respect and affection here and I hope you'll feel the camaraderie as you get to know us a little more. I hope you'll feel supported here and able to share your story with folk who identify with your issues. See you again soon...

Hello, nice to meet you. 29 year veteran of TBI here. The forum is a great place to ask questions, vent, or just to simply fit in. Make yourself at home!

welcome!!! Re guard this as the reforming funny-farm??!! I can say that because have been in it for a while now, many frustrations are eased with a silly grin to spite the injury?!! Deep long sighs aid too!! Others may tell y otherwise, it’s saved my one working neuron from giving up many times!! Hope y find the support y need here! Or failing that just come and rant!! We all do it occasionally so feel free!! Take care and hope it all gets sorted soon

Hi xx

My daughter got a sunflower lanyard and that can help in some places. Maybe look into applying g for PIP if it’s affecting your day to day life.
