A new game to exercise the brain…

…let us call it The Cables Game!

We have suffered poor signal and pixelation of BBC and other channels recently so I bought a new satellite receiver box. The old one hadn’t been moved in years - you can imagine the dust! Now I have always been careful when unplugging cables, sometimes even labelling where they came from (even before my ABI). Wifey had a different method…. Pull them all out and pile them on the dining table along with some wildcards - cables that didn’t belong to anything! I almost suffered a meltdown faced with this mass of plastic but I formulated a plan and slowly worked through the mountain and separated those I didn’t need from those I did. Once I had tuned in the new receiver I felt a sense of accomplishment….until the very same pixelation recurred and she said she wanted the old receiver returned! Time to call out the aerial company!

I had the same problem a few weeks ago when my aerial blew down in high winds. Luckily my pal managed to crawl through the attic window armed with new pole & toolbelt (he was securely harnessed to a stanchion in the attic and used an sturdy, homemade roof ladder). Service was resumed and pal was fine ....but not recommended for onlookers of a nervous disposition !

Call the man out Skulls..😉x

We made it through the cup final after which I reinstated the old box. Our only antenna is a satellite dish so the fallback system is a Roku streaming box which works with my 4G router. Whatever happens I can watch my footy next weekend via YouTube.

Ha ha ; glad you have your priorities sorted ! The commentators gave the match a lacklustre review but I thought both Utd & City played well ; v. happy that my team won though...... 😁 Everything crossed for Champion's League !! x

The better team won. I shall watch the European final out of interest rather than allegiance (my team has won it six times). I am so pleased we can watch YouTube on the big telly. I am a huge fan of the Roku streaming box.

small things are rewarding achievements?!! Even though they can be very frustrating at the time, when we succeed the feeling is achievement!!!

I reinstated the old box after the match was over. The Irish version of SKY News was, in her words, “doing her head in”. The Irish accents dubbed over familiar actors’ voices in the adverts irritated her. I loved it!!! 😈. Tech and computers have been my thing for nearly forty years now. I was self-taught and ended up managing systems at my workplace as well as building PCs from components and refurbing old machines. I still have a tower that needs rebuilding with a fresh hard drive, memory etc. I just lack the motivation to get on with the job. These days I spend all day on my iPad rather than sitting at a keyboard.

I can say that the best way for me to exercise my brain is by playing poker, it actually makes me think and come up with interesting strategies. I play at conquestador.com/en-ca/live... pretty often, and with a responsible approach, I manage to make good money that way from time to time.
