Cheaper broadband, it's a 'no brainer' (pun intended).

There's an article from BBC news covering findings from a 'Ripoff Britain' investigation. Your broadband provider has to provide greatly reduced cost broadband to people in receipt of universal credit, disability, PIP etc. This obviously encompasses many people with brain injuries so thought I'd sharing it.

I'm with BT and will be getting in touch with them asap. I think all broadband providers have to follow the rules. What the program found was that the providers did not inform their customers, they hid the fact to keep high prices and con the public.

I’m with EE/BT, after reading your post I did some investigating, they don’t offer discount to those on PIP but do for other benefits. Going to contact them anyway. Have passed the info on to my daughter who is with Sky and is on various be nevits, so thank you for that.

When I went through the switch myself I did notice that PIP was not on the qualifying list. There were quide a few benefits other that UC on the list. Did you see a copy of the list because you may qualify by being on another benefit.

I printed off the chat transcript, it has the benefit types you need to qualify, they include;

universal credit

guarantee credit element of pension credit

jobseekers allowance

income support

employment and support allowance

Hope that helps. It may be an idea for someone from the Headway forum administration to create a post and also inform Headway groups not on this forum about the social tariff for broadband and include the benefits that are required to qualify. The social tariff is real and many people could save costs on their bill in our current economic crisis.

Thank you but I only claim PIP, although I have retired my partner is still working and earns too much, will contact them anyway and chance my luck. I have told my daughter who is on UC.
