Such rotten luck Charty. I know how battered and bruised it feels having one knock back after another ; it can seem a bit like victimisation. But we've no choice other than starting again at the beginning and keeping an eye on our progress day on day.

The temporary driving loss was one of the worst issues for me, especially with heavy shopping or battling the elements with poor mobility, but I guess taxis and public transport are the only option unless we have friends/family to help out. It's the lack of independence though isn't it....

I hope you can find enough distractions to keep the sadness at bay. I still have poor mobility 10 years post SAH (& painful knee injury at present) so don't get far these days, but I lose myself in gardening, online crosswords & puzzles .....and I come here most days to chat.

I'm lucky to have great family and neighbours. Do you have family or friends around for support ?

Thinking of you m'love.. Cat x

So sorry Charty. Must be awful for you. Sometimes it feels like there's nothing to look forward to even though we all really need to believe there is. I'm a great believer in positive thinking although I know it can be hard at times. I completely understand about having your confidence knocked too. Do you have some good friends who can help you through these tough times? Or what about taking up a new hobby/interest?

Hi Charty, I don't have any words of wisdom here. I do know what it feels like to have little, or no control over the future. Just been through two years of not knowing what, or if I had anything to worry about. I'm not daft, so had a pretty good idea, just waiting, not having it confirmed. I have been referred to have a driving assessment, I haven't had problems so far, but the scans and assessments suggest that I probably should. Trying to get it straight in my thoughts what it will mean if I lose my license, unfortunately I feel that I will. Nothing I can do about it. But whatever happens, there is one thing I am sure of, having a brain injury, we do overcome and adapt, we have to. Pain in the, ah, you know where, it is, but what choice do we have?

hey there, I got the news (after a year and driving for last 9 months) that the powers that be are letting me keep my licence so don't give up hope

Hi, I haven't been wrong about the trajectory of things so far. It's ok having positive thinking, but there are times when you have to be realistic, accept, and move on. I'll hold on to the document if I can, it's cheaper than a passport 🙃

I feel for you, just when I thought I was getting better I got covid and it set me back big time. I had sah and subdural from a fall. I can only say to you that on your lowest days there is a lot of support and comfort here x
