Hi Rockyblue. I've have extreme soreness and tenderness of the scalp for the whole 9 years since my brain haemorrhage. I've given up looking for answers (from hairdressers, GPs, neurologists, dermatologists...) and can't believe this issue & the haemorrhage are unrelated.

Hairdressers say It's common but their explanations don't apply to me as I don't use harsh chemicals or have restrictive hairstyles ; GP's don't have a clue and I don't have any type of dermatological condition. My neuro doctor claims that scalp tenderness can be caused by inflammation of the the blood vessels, nerves, and tissues below or surrounding the scalp.......but only recommend soothing shampoos etc.

I've recently decided to source some CBD oil as massaging it into the scalp can apparently soothe the condition. I think the most reputable suppliers are CBD Brothers and, knowing how approachable they are, I intend to email them and ask which one they recommend for this particular issue. I need first to check with my GP for any incompatibility with other meds.

I sympathise with the night-time discomfort Rocky ; even just turning over in bed can be SO painful ! 😵 x

Hi Rocky, I had a subarachnoid haemorrhage in Oct 2009. After 6 months in hospital I was sent home with extremely inadequate pain relief so the process of finding something that worked effectively for nerve pain to my head.it was a very long process of going through pain relief protocol and 3-4 years of some pretty horrendous medications, my consultant nominated me for botox. I have been having botox for a few years now. 31 jabs to my head neck and shoulders every 13 weeks. I find it to be very effective indeed but find it does tend to wear off after week 9 or so. May be talk to your consultant about being considered for it. Hope this helps.

Hi Rockyblue. I had an SAH in Oct 2019 and a cranial shunt fitted on my right side. My head is still very tender especially above where the shunt is fitted? I had a telephone consultation with Professor Chavda from the hospital 2 days ago and mentioned this to him and his reply was that it will settle down with time! I'm not totally convinced but will have to settle for that for now.Good luck.
