I had my accident 23 years ago and thanks to my friend Joanna Lane and her website I'm still learning of different ways that a head injury can cause ongoing symptoms, and how some of them can be treated. Please read... christopherlanetrust.org.uk...

Thank you, there's a lot in this website.I had a telephone consultation with my GP last week and I'm due for my 3 monthly blood tests this week (monitoring LFT because I'm on Agomelatine). For some strange reason I asked him if I could have my endocrine function tested, possibly due to something I've read in this forum.

I'll send him a link to the info.

On further research this evening I found this:

newyorker.com/sports/sporti...

I'm wondering if there's any private sector testing available, my NHS experience has not been good.

I've got my first NHS neuropsychology assessment tomorrow, I've only had to wait 37 years for it since my TBI.

I would be nice going into my Autumnal years knowing what I have been; and still am; dealing with.

ooh, let me/us know how the neuropsychology assessment goes. The trouble is that you/we know far more about brain damage than them. And some of them HATE that. Please don't be too despondent if you end up sat opposite a numpty. I know that you & I have chatted on here before but I had to take a peek at your Profile to remind my battered brain of your story. Very sad - but you're still here. My accident was in 1998 when I was 35ish BUT my Mum told me that when I was a toddler I was found behind the sofa with a high temp, having seizures. Off to hospital. Then when I was 7ish I had my nose broken & was knocked out with a cricket bat. Hospital again. Then I had a huge motorbike accident in the early 80's that I only just survive. Ended up having to leave the RN after that. I feel that I was always a lesser person after that accident and just floated around. Then the accident in 1998. So possibly a combination of damage done.

Anyhow, I digress. Do you remember the old song from the Ovaltine Add? A bit before our time but.. Ovalteenies. Well we are fellow Agomelateenies. I have tried all kinds of antidepressants but they all wrapped me in cotton wool & made it harder to function. I have been on Agomelatine for, ooh, maybe coming up to 10 years. 2 x 25mg at night. They seem to help me. I also take Zopiclone and Diazepam occasionally. I find that if I take them too often they don't work as well so I now take maybe 7 Zopies and 14 Diaz a month. I have my LFT checked every 6 mths or so now.

I hope you get some joy from sending your Doc the link to Joanna's website. She is telling me that I was fobbed-off by a previous Dr & need to have another go at being tested properly..

I'l take a look at the link that you mentioned in a bit.

Send me a Private Message any time if you fancy a chat.

Keep battling. I am.

Remember... Hope.
