Oh dear. What a sorry tale of inefficiency and maladministration. All I can say is I think when you go to the hearing and they reinstate your benefits, they will give you all the money you were entitled to in a lump sum. I know that probably doesn't help for now. It's a nightmare system. I wonder which part of indefinitely unfit for work they didn't understand? Good luck.

Thank you, I'm sure I'll get there in the end, I could just do without the grief, if you know what I mean

It is hard to find words to express how STUPID this decision is. I think the people t made it had their common sense removed as part of their induction process, along with their humanity.

Why is it that the most vulnerable people are the ones that get attacked and picked on? None of us is living with our difficulties because we thought it would be fun.

I wish you all the best.

Precisely why I made the film, I want it to get out there and the people who matter to see it. I feel a campaign coming on...

Sad to hear this Baron C.

Although I still get reassessed from time to time ( twice last year). My situation is upheld.

On the crazy side after the assessment it normally states my condition is permanent and likely to deteriorate.

Seems strange that my ability to work still needs reviewing . Last year 6 monthly review took the biscuit as they arange to come out to my home then confirmed my name and ADDRESS were correct. Errrmmmmm they visited me! !!!!!.

But like I say mine have all been upheld. Like yours will in court. Just seems stupid havIng to go through all this. Plus the lack of income whilst you do. Then again like they say " you will get it all back dated". Maybe you should try this at your local supermarket at the till.

Maybe the politicians should have to live on the benefits then have them stopped while they go through a review then appeal and finally to court. Let's see the live whilst waiting for back dated money.

Good luck

Pax

Hi Pax,

The whole system stinks and needs root and branch change, immediately. I really want to get out there and talk to the people that matter but have no idea where to start. Just need a bit of luck...

Excellent idea about the politicians!

Hi,

I’m not sure a compulsory month on benefits for the Disabilities Minister, followed by an indefinite period of no income whatsoever while the award is reviewed and then appealed twice would be popular. It would certainly focus the mind of the person in charge of policy making. I feel like I’m missing something in the bit where the consultants letters say ‘indefinitely’. Why is there a difference in what indefinitely means to doctors and what it means to DWP staff? It’s an unimaginable situation to be caught up in.

To be honest with you, it's far from unimaginable. After 25 years of this crap, it's just to be expected really. This will be my second ESA tribunal to add to the PIP tribunal from two years ago.

It's just another day in paradise

It beggars belief. Can't really find words strong enough to sum up the stupidity,...……………w-a-a-a-y beyond incompetency, these people exhibit year on year.

Stupidity can be a cynical/useful tool for denying people their rights ; some folk just give up whilst others do them the biggest favour all and just die ! Shambolic, shameful system.

Maybe if the courts ruled the DWP liable for interest on loans and overdraft charges...……... 🙄

Wouldn't that be lovely. However, I naturally assumed the court had set a precedent six years ago by ruling in my favour. And by wording the order to the effect that this couldn't happen again...

Sorry you're getting this aggravation all over again m'love. You know team Nicholson will get through it, with a good result, but it's a hellish nightmare in the meantime.

Thinking of you both..... E x

Oh, we'll get through it, but as you infer, it's one giant pain in the buttocks. Thanks for your thoughts, means a ot! Hope Manchester/Sale is looking after you 😀

I also have had benefits stopped - the scans are the same, the tests are the same, the only redress I have is to persue through the courts, do I really want to do this? No. It would seem that is the only way to find out what is exactly wrong. With a brain injury - I cannot look inside my brain - I have to rely on the people who can and do diagnose the MRI and scans. I feel like they control my life and benefits received. Like others I am at the mercy of those in power. Nobody choses to be poorly.

Pursue them, never give up, that's what they want...

That's strange, they briefly cured me, until the ministry of health Dr contradicted their cure.

Unfortunately it was an Atos, unqualified assessor, who's report went to a DWP pen pusher who only looks at numbers, the Dr's report totally ripped apart the Atos work of fiction.

None of them know who their fathers are, or words to that effect...

As you have gone to the trouble of making a film, why not forward it to your MP and tv and radio stations. The radio station could run it as a complete six minute audio piece as it is articulate and clear.

Tried that, no response from anyone, yet

Hi re media.

When and who did you contact?

Try getting a name of a specific reporter for current affairs or try saying the angle is a ‘real life/ current issues’ type story or send to the news desk.

Good luck,
