I'm 14 months on from my re bleed and although symptoms have eased, I still have no independence. I still can't walk alone, have balance issues and my sight is impaired are my main concerns the other symptoms are manageable. I'm hoping that with a bit more time these symptoms will start clicking in. I like to believe that once the eyes correct it will have a knock on affect. My question is... Did you find you have to wait a really really long time for symptoms to ease? I'm just feeling this is super slow... when I ever ask a specialist/consultant they never know anything!I know recovery is slow, but how slow is ok? This is crazy.... each day seems the same and then like a month on for instance, you notice something has improved. I'm very frustrated with this now.. I'm an outdoor person too so that probably don't help..
If I could just regain my independence, I would cope much better.
Thanks for listening, moan over!

The journey of someone with a BI is long and long and relentless depending on severity of BI. After 22 months and the taking of an anti-depressant I now feel loads better and am reconciled to how life is after BI. I have some deficits which i deal with as and when but I am able to drive safely, walk and talk and do the voluntary work with the over 60s. I do get super tired courtesy of neuro fatigue, my memory requires super concentration and lots of note taking. I carry a small note pad to write aide memoirs or I will forget. I have a few other minors stuff pertinent to a right frontal lobe injury but I am alive so just have to get on with it. Death was not gifted to me!
So just be kind to yourself and just try to enjoy whatever your life is and good reminder may help that there is always someone worse off than yourself! ;o)
cornish i can only say to you what i was told when i asked how long my numbness would last down my left hand side after my stroke, the reply............how long is a piece of string.
not much of an answer but it was an answer and 6 years on guess what..............yes your right......im still numb ha ha ha.
at least i was given an answer. have you tried using a patch, have you been checked for an inner ear in balance?
cornish if all else fails, there one cure you havent tried my friend.................oggie sniffing....hahaha. good luck. hope to hear from you soon
I often say to myself the saying "how long is a piece of string" when I ask myself "when is it going to get better for me or when are my eyes going to correct or when will I be able to walk freely again etc"
It's a very appropriate saying I reckon.
It's good you have kept a good personality with the symptoms you have had to contend with over the years. It's not easy for any of us...
