I’m still going on about not having my independent walking. My bleed was back in June 2017, and I’m still struggling with walking independently. I can walk, the ability is there. I’m just unable to do it unassisted. Has anyone else taken along time to achieve their walking? The brain is also still unsettled. It kind of like pulsates/throbs from within. It’s non stop. This is taking part in the damaged area so I’m assuming it’s repairing itself. I appreciate this healing process will take some time as I have other symptoms which also need addressing. My main aim and goal is to regain my Walking as this to me is my aid to recovery. There is just no independence for me at present as I cannot walk far without help from another. Walking aids are of no use to me as the pull of the brain is that strong it will just topple me over. I have not read in all my searching anyone who has contended with symptoms such as mine. It would be really reassuring to hear from others alike. Does anyone else have the constant pulsating sensation within the brain? Trying to walk on any uneven terrain is typically hard work or non existent. I have spoken to specialists regarding this and they have no advice. If anything they are very unfamiliar with any of the sensations which I experience. Any advice would be much appreciated..

Hi Cornish, what exactly is the problem, e.g., stamina, balance, co-ordination, spacial awareness, muscular atrophy? Walking will aid your recovery as it certainly has mine. Do you think a Neuro trained physiotherapist would be useful?
Hi, it's my balance which is the main issue I think. I have paid for neuro physio but I found they were pretty stumped in what to offer... They do not seem to fully understand my concerns. I try to explain it all but they treat me as if I'm able and I don't have any balance issues. I can't physically do what they have to offer. It's not me being lazy or awkward, it's a simple I can't do it. They see me struggling but ignore it. It's very frustrating. Do you have any advice or experience on this? I just want my walking back. I practice every day and purchased a treadmill last year. (Not that I can use it not holding on yet) Every day since coming home in August 2017 I have been practicing in helping my recovery. If I never saw improvement I would probably calm down on it, but I do see forms of improvement so I just keep going. I'm active by nature so I prefer to be doing stuff rather than just sitting about. Thank you for you time.
Hi Cornish, I was told I'd never walk again up to 800 to 1000 yards before back goes, but I can shower myself etc. I have my dignity back unless I forget to close toilet door behind me ! We can do this and I was told in 2010 as in 2009 was my bleed ..you must never give up. I panic in shops as I feel I am in peoples way and then back goes. So walked into Sainsbury's cafe and sat down all breathless until breakfast come up. Set your self a goal mine is to walk around the frozen section in Sainsbury's as that is where I first walked, got wheelchair trolley put the high side towards Tum and it made my back upright and wheeled it out. I was so proud of myself lol xxx Good luck on walking we can do it xxxxx takes a while but I have gotten lazy !!! (Wanted to tell everyone to move out my way) ha ha
I can only come to the conclusion that my independence in walking is unique to me. No one seems to have been effected this way or they keep quiet or are not even on this site. I know it can be achieved it's just beyond slow (I guess it just points out I'm inpatient 🙄) . Well I don't wish to be fighting for this achievement for my remaining days lol I'm only 38. I do try and keep it light hearted no matter how much I'm struggling..
Cornish do you walk around house independently? As when I go out to walk I am more het up as people who can walk are in my was (How dare they)!! Seriously I do get in a mess when walking, my heart pumps , I get in a tizz. To be honest I am scared hence the chair still. I tell my family not to talk to me while walking. As I need to concentrate and I am an old dear lol ..Do you do exercise whilst sitting as any thing you do whilst sitting helps ..I have an electrical pedal for feet and the jokers in my family keep putting speed higher. lol ..They mean well and it sounds daft but I need concentration to put 1 leg in front of the other.
Keep at it and see you on the track ..I started walking with a zimmer frame ..Tell a lie it was a Sainsbury's trolley where the high bit..was helping back keep erect I wheeled it out and hubs panicked for me xxxx..never give up promise xxxx????
Hi WinB, thank you for your reply. I am very much like you in regards to concentrating. The brain is easily distracted. I’m trying my hardest not to use any walking aids as I really really want to be walking independently. Each day is now resulting in the few steps which I can achieve are that much stronger. It’s only minor I know, but it’s super rewarding. I’m definitely a tryer, so I will continue on. You have come a long way forward too. I could quite easily have a chair, I know that feeling. I think my balance is playing a major part in my walking improving. Any slight flooring disturbance throws Walking my right off balance. Keep up being positive, as hard as it is at times. You are doing great 👍
We can do it Cornish have Skechers now as a party wear ..ha ha they are so light but expensive for trainers ..No more high heels flip flops Summer and winter my old faithful Skechers xxxx Good luck and if down and need to talk I come on just to have a nose xxxxx Blow fashion we can go for them after we can walk better xxxx
