Hi, My husband who is 12 years older than me worked full time until he had a spontaneous bleed on the brain, both left and right frontal lobes and a fractured skull on October 29 last year. He spent 6 months in hospital and had to learn how to walk and eat again, he can walk about 20 yards now with 2 sticks but his balance is very poor and eat normally although what he eats and drinks is minute. His memory is improving very slowly but still thinks he is going to work next week, this will never happen. We have carers 3 times a day and after a few teething troubles they are good but we really need more because he is given to trying to go upstairs or outside on his own which is not safe. I work 10 hours a week as a carer and just have to leave him. We are not entitled to any other kind of support because of his age (75) we get attendance allowance full stop. Is there anybody else out there in a similar situation please?

Hi Zarilda and welcome.
I think you would be best to ring the Headway helpline.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
I think that unfortunately age will be against your husband as far as NHS help goes but as he is making progress you might find the headway leaflets a useful source too
