Hello. I found out recently, that a month after I was born, I had a subependymal haemorrhage. I am told that it most likely caused my epilepsy. GP thinks it is an acquired injury. Does that mean then, I have an ABI? I was born premature, so what does that mean for me? Can I access the whole ID thing, or can I get one, stating I have aspergers syndrome, so please try to be patient with me.

Maybe Headway can advise on this Samantha. Phone the helpline on 0808 800 2244 (free calls - office hours). Best wishes.......Cat.
Hiya, as cat3 said, Headway is the place to start. It's possible that you suffered an ABI, I think. I had a whole set of tests on me to determine what parts of my brain were damaged by my TBI - you may be able to get tested too. Before my diagnosis I found that lots of GP's and 'experts' would try to give my problems a label, a name, as the symptoms to TBI, ABI, Aspergers, Bipolar, etc can be very similar. It is easy to get misdiagnosed. Maybe try Headway & find out about having tests. And please let us know how you get on. Good luck x
