Hi I attend physiotherapy in the Nottingham area. I live with my husband and daughter but I am very lonely as no one really understands my problems unless they have experienced them. So I am very happy to communicate with you.

Best wishes

Have you had counselling to help you to come to terms with the 'new you'?

in reply to

Hi I'm in Chesterfield. I also had a stroke just over 2.5 years ago. Having a stroke can be hard to come to terms with especially in the early days/months.

An occ therapist once told me to compare myself to the recovery i'd made since having the stroke and not to how i was prestroke.... it helped a lot. I know i'll never be 100% and i'm trying to be the best version of how i am now.

One thing i have learnt is you learn a lot about yourself and others in your life.

Be gentle with yourself and try and get as much help/support as possible. It does get better with time but slowly.

Sending you a hug x

You have to try and accept the new person you have become and hope you can adapt to situations. Keep trying show your kids it’s not correct to give up.

I hope you'll find some comfort here Chuffer. Can you tell us how long ago you suffered your stroke and what sort of issues it's left you with ?

Regards, Cat x
