Hello everyone,
It’s taken me a while to write this post, but I’m ready and proud to share my story.
I had a subarachnoid hemorrhage in June this year, after being admitted to A&E for what I thought was malaria, I had a CT scan which showed I had a brain bleed.
My husband came into the room I was in he looked pale and broken, I felt scared, when I was told I had a bleed I remember letting out a huge sob, I don’t think you can ever prepared yourself for such diagnosis.
The angiogram revealed I had 3 aneurysms and one had burst, 2 could be coiled, but one needed clipping.
I spent 10 days in hospital, was very blessed and fortunate to have my family and loved ones around me, and the best nhs team.
One of the doctors told me the best thing you can do is keep calm, keep zen.
For the 10 days that’s what I did, it was difficult when you’re experiencing such pain, but I knew if I stressed out and let go of the positive feelings I would not be giving myself a fighting chance.
My husband and I love American football and just before my clipping procedure I was quite scared, he reminded me of the last Super Bowl game where the patriots odds were against them, but they kept going and won.
He said don’t stop playing you’ve come this far, bring the Lombardi home.
I have a titanium cap, 2 platinum coils and a platinum clip.
I did bring the Lombardi home as I survived and thanks to such an amazing team of doctors and my loving team, my family.
Before this happens I was redundant from my job, after 3 months off I found a great job and started in November
This experience has made me a stronger and more positive human.
Adversity happens but you can influence the outcome.
