Hi, I'm 18 years old and was told by my eye specialist last week that I have BIH or IIH and I have to go for an MRI in the next 4-6 weeks and be referred to a Neurologist. I'm unsure what I should expect from the MRI and seeeing the Neurologist should I prepare myself for bad news? Should I just ignore it like it's never happened? Or should I be happy that it's been caught very early? I'm trying to loose weight but that it proving very difficult. I'm 18 years old and I'm terrified 😪

Hi Daisyellen. What a nasty shock for you. However definitely don't ignore this and go and see a neurologist as suggested. A similar thing happened to me as a teenager. Under a routine eye examination the opthalmist could see something unusual. It turned out to be an enlarged blood vessel that was on the point of bursting. The medics only saw this via a CT scan (MRI wasn't available then) in hospital. I'm not suggesting you have anything like this, but its better to put your mind at rest than ignoring the advice. I have since had lots of MRI scans. They don't hurt, just give an unpleasant noise which you have to lie there and listen to. All the best. Lulu
