Does anybody find that quite often, even by (in fact especially by) people who know you need more thinking time than most, expect a response immediately. I suppose this gave rise to phrases like "you know what". Is there a way out?

Absolutely Scruffycat. I though it would improve with time but it's actually worse then ever. And if you were someone who chose the company of people who like a good debate, it can be really upsetting and isolating to be lost for words.

My loved ones just make light of the problem (even worse, finish my sentences for me) when all I actually need is a little more time.

That's why this forum is a lifesaver ; we can take as long as we need to find the words and the end product looks so effortless !

Hope your otherwise coping ok Scruffy and feeling well as possible. Cat xx

Have an automatic one, if they are being impatient like: "No" The thing is no matter what they are asking No may be an answer that does not fit their question and it may then click for them "Oh you need more time to process an answer. Of if they accept it, you're done. You can always later come back and say "You remember wen you asked me X. Well I couldn't come up with my answer when you were asking but, (then give them the answer you didn't have back when they asked). Just one idea.

It's not just us who grieve for who we once where, those who know and love us, need to move though that, plenty of denial for them as well.

This rings a bell.. People close to me are always asking me questions that require a quick response or they ask me where things are. They always seem surprised when I don't answer quickly or don't know the answer. I have processing speed problems word finding problems and problems with memory. I have a brain injury lol what's their excuse.
