Warning ! It's not an easy watch.

I thought that some of the carers might be interested.

It is called "The Lookout"

Being honest I managed the first 10 minutes between the language and the difficulties of daily life it portrayed.

It was on BBC late last night s I'm not sure if it will be available on catch up.

Love n hugs and a good weekend to all

May not be easy to watch but sound interesting and informative. Just tried to see if I could locate it on iplayer but it's not there unfortunately. Which BBC channel was it on please??

Adding a bit more - just looked it up on the BBC website and see it was a film (I was searching under documentaries) about a jailbreaker manipulating someone with a brain injury. It is not going to be on iplayer for reasons it doesn't meet with all requirements. So I guess we have missed it!!! Mind you not sure I am interested in a film portrayal as its not really going to be very accurate or appropriate about BI I would think.

Hi

It was on BBC1. Yes it was about someone with frontal lobe injury being manipulated but it resonated with me even though my frontal lobe injury is "very minor".

I did watch about an hour of it and yes i personally could relate to a lot of the frontal lobe difficulties. It troubled me though when he became vulnerable to the manipulation so of the jailbreaker and I stopped watching it.

I think it was the vulnerability that made me sort of freak out.

Stupid thing is I'm aware that I'm vulnerable because there's so much information I can't process fast enough.

Scary.

Still we manage don't we.

Love n hugs

Hi Random,

I think this the one ? - available on youtube :

Thanks for the heads up, I will watch at some point this weekend : ) x

Just watched Awakenings again, as it was on recently which sparked me off on a hunt for the original 1973 documentary by Dr Oliver Sacks - sadly not available.

Yes that is the one.

I watched to just past the scene where the character with bi was being guided by phone to help with preparing the meal.

"All you have to do is open the tin of tomatoes and put them in the pan.". One wrecked kitchen later and a frustrated phone call with no can't find the ****** ***** ****** tin opener.

Yes awakenings is a lot nicer. Even though it's not a cosy film itself.

Love n hugs

randomphantoms i suffered a frontal lobe bi, my wife is constantly looking for possible triggers when we re out and steering me in the opposite direction.

my doc describes me as rude and aggressive my language is foul, i only know this because my wife will tell me off but i dont know why.

im unaware of my actions.

i like writing because i have to take my time and think about what i write, so that takes care of the bad language, there was one topic where the lady didnt give the reason she had to do something and her words sounded wrong and i did have a go then there was a question to the forum which i thought shouldnt have been posted and i let rip again.

it wasnt until a few of the members made their feelings known to , i knew id done something wrong.

now the doc thinks i may have developed epilepsy, soooo ive been referred to a neurologist.........happy days

Hi Steve,

The David Tennant film is called 'Recovery' - also available on youtube. I thought Recovery was excellent and portrayed the problems caused by frontal lobe damage really well. I take it that what you had thought were vertigo attacks are now being investigated as Epilepsy ?

Best of luck with neuro appointment, I'm still awaiting mine.

I tried to find the Recovery film you mentioned but I couldn't!

Hi Strawbs,

Ah, I think I know why ! When I just typed 'Recovery' in I got all kinds of unwanted nonsense so I had to add 'film, David Tennant' to it to get there : )

This version is split into 10 parts but follows on automatically. There is also a subtitled version for those that would benefit. I personally find subtitles distract me too much from the action, these days. It is such a good film, it can be watched over and over, especially with our short term memories ! : ))

Enjoy : ) x

Thanks Angela for the link. I will have a watch later. Yes I ended up with all that nonsense even when I added the word 'film' but didn't think to try adding David Tennant! Doh!! x

I watched the entire film today. It was quite a difficult watch as very poignant especially for me with a frontal bi. Really portrays the impact on a partner/Carer very well too.

angela my doc wanted to go down the easy route first so i had a mobile heart monitor attached for a week ( which seemed a waste because id only just had a cardio as part of my yearly mot ) which came up clear.......so hes referred me to a neurologist.

when my wife phoned the help line she was given the choice of 4 hospitals in west sussex and was given a time scale of around 6 weeks'

ive had several small ones with the odd medium one throne in for good measure but ive had 2 biggish ones yesterday and today........i went back to bed today and slept it off.

got the psychiatrist tomorrow so ill mention it.........im like a hermit.

hope you get youre appointment soon ., have told them youll accept a cancellation at short notice ?

Well, it's good news that your heart checks out fine.

I had some motor fits during illness 3 years ago - they would make me v. tired too. Luckily they pushed off after a few weeks and I've never had one since.

I was quoted 11 weeks for neuro appointment but given the recent strike I suspect that it could take longer. It is not an emergency and to be fair, if I am going to randomly relapse again there is no way to prevent it.

I can monitor myself for infections, in case they start to get out of hand, which seems to be a trigger. x

hi angela saw the psychiatrist today, she agrees with the doc im parcial thingies, so before i see the neurologist she upped my epilim by 400mg a day ( she knows the main reason i take is as a mood stabiliser ) but thinks it may help so my daily dose is 1000mg morning and evening.

i know my wife will push and push until i get my appointment......why is yours a non priority?
