I want to join the Lacrosse team, but I'm worried about a bash to the head. What do you think? Should I do it?

I don't know enough about lacrosse and I'm not qualified to comment on your personal medical history but its all about risk management and taking sensible precautions to protect yourself . We each need to find a balance between living the life we want and keeping ourselves safe and healthy.

I would suggest you speak with your doctor to get advice... and then depending on their opinion maybe speak with the manager/coach of the team and explain about your Brain injury.Do let us know what you decide/how it goes...

Ask a doctor.

I agree on taking medical advice but I assume that if you're considered fit enough to run around for the duration of a match, a helmet would be the solution. You know, one of the lightweight ones as worn by a certain goalkeeper with a head injury.

When I played lacrosse at school it always amazed me that we played with unprotected heads which were occasionally clonked with that quite hard ball. :o

Oh yeah everyone wears helmets anyway, the balls as hard as frickin limestone!

Yes, I was a little bit surprised we didn't have headwear at school - but this was in the days before Health & Safety!

One of my two dogs loved to destroy balls and took great satisfaction when they were reduced to rubble. Apart from leaping up with a look of consternation on his face when a golf ball unravelled, the only thing that ever fazed him was my lacrosse ball - he used to whine with frustration when he couldn't even make a dent in it. :-)

I hope you get all clear to play Ben! I have to say I miss sport and exercise it's probably the biggest thing I miss. I was always down the gym :(

I could write you a book about sport and head injuries, but the best advice has already been said and that is " get proper medical advice ".

I got smacked in the helmet by a lacrosse ball yesterday, didn't feel a thing!

Although this fatigue is making me think I'm not cut out for constant play
