Hi , haven't posted for some time .Last year I suffered a brain injury .At the time I was just about to turn perfesional in mma (sort of like boxing ).I recoverd from the accident very very well ,I was in hospital for 3 weeks and off work for nearly 3 months .I wanted to resume competing but had to be cleared by a neurologist first .I made a private appointment with a neurologist who specialises in brain injuries in sport and he requested an mri scan .I had this 2 weeks ago and was fully expecting him to clear me to resume competing .I was in work yesterday when I received an email stating that "I had small prominent lesions in the left frontal and temporal lobes in the white matter of the brain ". Naturally I would speak to him about this but he is away on study leave untill next week .This has taken me by surprise and I would like to know if any one could share any light on what this means .thanks

Lesions in the brain are sites of damage, just whereabouts they are determine the problems this will cause. The lesions I have are consistent with the symptoms I exhibit they do not mean you can't minimise those problems and the brain can often find new pathways around these areas, but it depends on the severity/ size of the lesions. The neurologist will be able to discuss this better with you. Good luck xxxxxx Janet

Hi , thanks for the reply . I genuinely thought I was over this as I feel 100% fine , this is why it's so hard to get my head around because I honestly thought I was back to my usual self .I'm having a meeting with the specialist next week so I'll be asking as many questions as possible .thanks xx
