Thank you for posting this - very interesting. We listed a similar US-based trial called proTECT III on our website in 2012, which you can read about here: headway.org.uk/news/progest...

Trials like this do take a long time to translate into clinical practice (I think proTECT is to take place over at least three years), but it is very good to see that research into this is continuing as a possible therapy for limiting damage in the early stages after brain injury.

It is frustrating but I completely understand why they move slowly and very cautiously with these things. Good to see some progress though eh? It probably won't be the 'silver bullet' we'd all like but progress is progress. It's taken decades for us to get where we are in brain research so every little bit helps and the momentum is growing at long last.

Interesting, but it can't help people who've already had an injury, for that we need stem cells to replace the lost tissue. Anyone for China?
