Nature is the best therapy...

Hello all,

This morning, I observed a tiny bird feeding on a nectar blossom, in my back garden. The few minutes spent doing this, was a nice reminder that nature really is amazing. And that nature is the best form of therapy, for a sometimes overwhelmed brain.

This photo of your doorstep hedgerow is amazing. It is so nice to see new foliage in Springtime, isn't it. You're right Sue, nature does give a lot of comfort. Anytime, anywhere.

Hi m'love ; good to see you. I couldn't agree more that nature is the best therapy. My garden is my little piece of heaven, especially when the birds are feeding ...or foxy is lounging on the lawn. 🦊 And, for me, growing stuff is so therapeutic.

I can see the branches of the trees through the window 'dancing' to & froe as I type ; I love how the wind brings everything to life. Such a shame that so many folk seem oblivious to the nature around them.

Even when I was run off my feet with family and work I'd always find time to stop and stare at some form of nature 🦟🌱🕊️..

Hope you & little furry kid are well.. Love E. x

Hello E, good to see you too. Your garden is a sanctuary for the birds and the relaxed foxy! Yes, wildlife and gardens provide so much for wellbeing. And it is nice to observe nature from indoors, as you eloquently described the swaying branches outside your window. Like you, I have always been transfixed by the wonders of nature.

Absolutely, being outside is a therapy and relief for me. I now have tinitus since my SAH and being outside hearing natural sounds brings some relief.

So true for me too Strawbs ! I've suffered tinnitus for decades and outdoor sound masks the constant amplified sound of my own heartbeat like nothing else...

Keep sane m'love ! 🥴 x

Sadly, ex-husband/perforated ear drum ! Divorced soon afterwards...

Do you know what triggered yours ? 🤔

oh no, I’m so sorry.

Mine came on after having a brain haemorrhage, they think the stress of trying to get back to me bought it on. It’s horrible:-(

I find distraction the only answer, either with music /tv through headphones or being outdoors.

Yes it's horrible ; mine's a bit like the scream of aircraft engines just before take-off & somehow it picks up my heartbeat & amplifies it !

My GP referred me to Specsavers in 2021 to see if an audio device which masks the noise would help, but the appointment was cancelled owing to Covid and not reinstated.

Maybe you could ask about it ? 🤔 Let me know if you do...

Totally agree! My sister talks about this, not for brain injury but in a more general way... emmamitchell.net/

Thanks for the link to your sister's website. Emma certainly does appreciate being immersed in nature. And because of this, has become an amazing silver clay jewellery maker. Yes, it is true. Everyone benefits from being in nature, or simply observing the wonders of nature.

We were visited by two lovely foxes, last night and they tucked into my leftover chicken balls and chips from the Chinese. You’re right, Nature is very soothing and I get much relief from watching the birds on the feeders. The goldfinches have made a welcome return, this year.

Your lovely pair of foxes are quite domesticated! Yes, nature is calming. Goldfinches are so delightful to see. Good thing they have returned to your place. They have such a cheerful presence, don't they.

They were joined, this morning, by a pair of greenfinches. I don’t understand what has happened. Peace has broken out in the bird world. No more squabbling.

So agree with this. I really got something from reading The Well Gardened Mind. It was recently written by a psychiatrist whose husband is a medal winning garden designer. I'd definitely recommend it
