Yes,
I will have to get another cat. After surgery in August my dear friend Oscar cat died with blood clots in October Coincidence? That was my op. but I am still here.! Miss him a lot
best wishes and a good recovery to you all

I want another cat but had a bad experience in 2012, bought a beautiful exotic just before I was ill, the kids looked after her while I was in hospital but she had FPV and I had to have her put down in the August, very upsetting, and I can't bring myself to get another one yet, perhaps soon .
But beautiful cat Andy xxxxx
Aww so cute. My daughter would love the picture I will show it to her. She has a cat named Sox who she loves dearly and spoils rotten I might add. he is the baby she can never have.
A dog wasn't possible really as they take more looking after than cats, but she is a cat lover anyway so no stress there. When she moved to live alone we kept her old cat here as he would only drift back here anyway ( she only lives lower down the street ) he will be 15 yrs old this year. If I can upload a photo I will
BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL KITTY! GROOMING MUST BE FUN. MY CAT HATES IT, LICKILY HE'S SHORT HAIRED.
Oh yes, my house is constantly covered in cat fur. There's more on the floor than she has on her body
see my other reply - I can relate to the fur also I had cats for 40 years of married llife in UK!
I only let her out at night because we live in the middle of nowhere in french countryside - we being me and Noir.....and apart from lumps of tree/unreal perceptions - have not seen seen any real cats around here.
I have tried to post a photo but can't see how to do it. also have tried putting a photo on my profile but it won't do that either despite downsizing it considerably
OMG - that mus be a identical twin to the stray cat that has adopted me! You don't live in France do you? I'm not joking either. I cannot keep this cat, I have bought food, littler tray, toys, given it flea treatment, today bought worming tablets from te pharmacie, writing so small and in french not even sure how I should give it a tablet - do i just opn its mouth and put tablet at back of throat? If yes, before or after its next meal? I have called her (I think its a she!) Noir, she's probably not spayed, she seems too young, perhaps 4-6 months and now likes to go out late at night.
She is intelligent, and affectionate. Wen I ask if she wants to do a wee-wee, she walks to the door to go out to her litter tray. If I ask her if she is hungry she meows at me. She has just started clawing at my furniture and has already wee'd on my new settee 3 times - I am not happy, especially as within the next 4 weeks I am moving home. I have tried to re-home her with french animal charities but am told now is not a good time as they are full of abandoned or stray animals. I have too many problems myself coping with effects of BI and Car accident to be able to keep her. My heart say yes do, my brain says no don't and I must listen to my brain - I cannot add to my difficulties at the moment. There is the possibility that through an ex-pats forum here in France that someone may come and collect her at the end of the month - but I am still waiting to hear. If I don't I will have to abandon her the day i leave here for my new rented accommodation. It will break my heart to be so cruel, I am in tears as I write this. I cannot take the stress of thinking about my actions when I leave here!
HOW ABSOLUTELY HEARTBREAKING. MY FATHER HAS HAD TO GO INTO RESIDENTIAL ARE & HIS REMAINING CAT IS IN A CATTERY BUT I DON'TKNOW HOW LONG WE'LL HAVE TO KEEP HER THERE. I HAVE ASKED MY VET IF HE CAN FIND HER A NEW HOME AND TOLD EVERYONE I CAN THINK OF THE SITUATION. MAYBE YOUR VET CAN SUGGEST SOMETHING YOU COULD DO. IS THERE A FRENCH EQUIVALENT OF CATS PROTECTION WHO COULD TAKE HER & REHOME HER? GOOD LUCK I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW HARD THIS IS.
Thanks Zeblet, so is your situation - have you asked if the Residential home would let your Dad have the cat there. I know its been recognised in UK that pets, in Residential or perhaps care homes, do help enormously these days and are considered so therapeutic. . An animal to love and love you back with no demands or expectations (except food is one of the best therapies in life!
Over here we have the SPA and a few voluntary private centres, but they are spread far and wide over the country. Those I have been able to contact say they have no room and none are close to me anyway. I think I said before I may have found an ex-pat site that has someone who will collect her at the end of this month - in the meantime I will continue to enjoy her company and yes it will be a wrench to see her go. She is young and will adapt quickly I hope. xxxxx
I'M GLAD TO HEAR ABOUT THE EX PAT SITE, IT WILL HELP. I DID ASK THE HOME ABOUT TAKING DAISY BUT THEY COULDN'T DO IT. IT'S A HUGE VICTORIAN MANSION IF SHE WANDERED AROUND IT THEY'D NEVER FIND HER. ALSO THERE MAY BE PEOPLE THERE WHO CAN'T TOLERATE CATS. THE CATTERY ARE LOOKING OUT FOR POSSIBILITIES. IT'S COST US OVER £500 TO KEEP HER THERE SO FAR BUT THE MONEY DOESN'T REALLY COUNT AS LONG AS SHE'S SAFE & CARED FOR. HERE'S HOPING
oh Zeblet, sorry to read that about the home. Sounds to me like an excuse from them. A cat will always find its way to where its fed, as we know. Sorry I'm being dogmatic - having an off day today! An electrician was supposed to arrive to repair a radiator hat doesn't work and hasn't. Can't do bolshy in French - only english I feel desperately for your situation with your Dad's cat and wish I could help with an alternative idea. PM a conversation to Turquoise if you live near each other, relatively, perhpas TQ might be interested!
I TEND TO ABOUT THE HOME. THERE IS A COACH HOUSE ON ONE SIDE OF THE COURTYARD & I SAW A CAT ASLEEP OUTSIDE IT. I FELT HOPEFUL DAISY WOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM BUT THEY SAID THE CAT IN THE COURTYARD WAS A SEMI FERAL WHO JUST COMES ROUND TO SLEEP I'LL KEEP PLUGGING AWAY. I CAN'T FIND TQ , I'LL HAVE A BETTER LOOK WHEN I CAN READ PROPERLY. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR KIND SUPPORT.
I HAVE TO CNFESS I AM MORE THAN BOLSHY AT THE MOMENT SO DON'T WORRY. HAVE HAD TO GET A NEW COMPUTER, A NEW DVD PLAYER & A NEW MP3 PLAYER ALL AT ONCE AS THEY ALL PACKED UP AT THE SAME TIME. LOADS OF MONEY I REALLY DIDN'T NEED TO SPEND, SUPPOSE I COULD HAVE DONE WITHOUT MP3 BUT I NEED MISC. I CONFESS MY LANGUAGE WAS A BIT RIOE WHEN THECOMPUTER BROKE, IT'S MY ABSOLUTELY LIFE LINE. I'VE NOW GOT TO LEARN HOW TO USE THEM! TAKE CARE,HOPE THE RAD GETS FIXED SOON
HI ZEBLET, HOPE REPLY IN CAPITALS HELPS YOU. SORRY YOU ARE NOT HAVING A GOOD TIME OF THINGS AT PRESENT, I UNDERSTAND THE FRUSTRATION AND ANGER WHEN THINGS IN LIFE GO WRONG.
THAT'S A LOT OF NEW EQUIPMENT TO HAVE TO BUY! PERHAPS WITH THE NEW COMPUTER YOU'LL BE ABLE TO DOWNLOAD AND LISTEN TO THE MUSIC FROM YOUR MP3 PLAYER. MY NEW COMPUTER CAME WITH WINS 8 LAST YEAR, JUST B4 THE BI - WHAT A NIGHTMARE TO LEARN A NEW SYSTEM AFTER YEARS OF XP! SOMEBODY NEAR WHERE I LIVE NOW, A UK COMPUTER EXPERT MANAGED TO FIX IT AFTER THE 1ST WINS 8 UPDATE CRASHED IT. HE GOT A LOT OF MY STUFF INCLUDING PHOTOS FROM THE HARDDRIVE AND THEN INSTALLED WINS 7. SO LIFE GOT EASIER & BETTER WITH THAT OS. I AM ALSO GOING TO ORDER AN EXTERNAL HARDDRVE - RECOMMENDED TO ME, SO I CAN BACK UP ALL MY FILES AND INFO. I WILL PM DETAILS TO YOU ON A NEW CONVERSATION.
THAT'S GOOD NEWS FOR YOU ABOUT DAISY, I HOPE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO MOVE HER THERE TO BE NEARER YOUR DAD. IS HE AWARE HE DOES NOT SEE HER NOW? I HAD EMAIL TODAY FROM THE EX-PAT WEBSITE CAT RESCUE LADY CONFIRMING SOMEBODY WILL COME AND COLLECT MY STRAY AROUND 10TH MARCH. IWILL MAKE MOST TIME I HAVE LEFT WITH HER AND HAVE ALREADY TAKEN PHOTOS TO KEEP OF HER. I WISH YOU WELL AND HOPE ALL YOUR PROBLEMS ARE RESOLVED SOON ALSO. Shirley x
THANKS SO MUCH. I'M RELIEVED THE EX-PAT PEOPLE CAN HELP.
I DON'T THINK DAD'S REALLY AWARE THAT DAISY ISN'T THERE. WHEN I HAD TO HAVE HIS OTHER CAT (DAISY'S SISTER) PUT TO SLEEP JUST BEFORE HE WENT TO THE HOME WE DECIDED NOT TO TELL HIM & HE NEVER ASKED AFTER HER. YOU JUST CAN'T BE SURE WHAT'S GOING ON IN HIS HEAD.
THERE IS ONE SCHOOL OF THOUGHT THAT SAYS AS HE HASN'T SEEN DAISY SINCE BEFORE XMAS & IS NOW SETTLED IN THE HOME IT MAY BE MORE DETRIMENTAL TO MENTION HER TO HIM AS IT MAY REMIND HIM HE'S NOT AT HOME.
WE'RE NOT 100% SURE HE KNOWS THAT HE'S NOT GOING BACK TO HIS HOUSE SO WE'VE BEEN BUYING HIM NEW STUFF RATHER THAN TAKING STUFF FROM HIS HOME IN CASE IT UPSETS HIM. I'D HAVE HAD DAISY MYSELF BUT MY CHARLIE WHO'S ALSO 18 & BIT OF A GRUMPY OLD MAN WITH ANYTHING EXCEPT ME WOULDN'T TOLERATE HER.
THANKS FOR THE CAPITALS. WHEN I HAD MY KINDLE (WHICH ALSO PACKED UP BUT ISN'T BEING REPLACED) MY READING SPEED WAS CLASSIFIED AS "LEARNER"
QUITE AMUSING (OR SAD) AS I HAVE A DEGREE!
I'M KNACKERED NOW SO I'M GOING TO SEE IF THERE'S ANY OLYMPICS ON TELLY THAT I CAN SLEEP THROUGH - NO THERE ISN'T ONLY FOOTBALL WHICH I CAN'T STAND SO I'LL DEFINITELY SLEEP THROUGH THAT.
TAKE CARE & HERE'S HOPING NOTHIN G ELSE PACKS UP OR BREAKS
XX
I CAN UNDERSTAND YOUR REASONS FOR NOT TELLING YOUR DAD ABOUT DAISY. BEST LET 'SLEEPING DOGS' OR CATS IN THIS CASE, LIE.
YES ITS SAD KNOWING WHAT PREVIOUS CAPABILITIES WE HAD AND KNOWING WE DON'T HAVE THEM ALL NOW, NO MATTER WHO OR WHAT WE WERE OR ARE, IT MAKES FRUSTRATION AN UNDERSTABLE REACTION TO CURRENT WAY OF LIFE. I CANT TYPE AS QUICKLY OR EFFICIENTLY AS I DID BEFORE. HAVE TO RELY ON SPELLCHECK NOW DESPITE ENGLISH HAVING BEEN MY BEST SUBJECT AT SCHOOL.
DORS BIEN! XX
Aw bless, how sweet, but how upsetting at the same time!
Hi BaronC - is that picture taken in this years snow, or a different time?
You have all had so much bad weather to cope with over there s take care of yourselves please.Shirley xxx
the photo was taken about three years ago actually, it takes me that long to download photos
My daughter and her cat are devoted to each other. He follows us to the car crying after her and leaps out of the bushes to her as soon as she returns.
He sits on her laptop ( little devil ) and when she says 'kiss' he goes all soppy and puts his head up to hers. He also sleeps on the bed with her and needs to be touching her whillst they sleep. He's made a lovely companion for her.
that's lovely headchild. I talk to Noir in french and english on the premise she will eventually be in a french home. She is so affectionate and intelligent and she loves being brushed! She doesn't sleep with me though. Back in UK we had 2 siamese cats who slept under duvet in winter and crushed us to death in summer!
I'm glad your cat gives your daughter so much love and happiness. x
Well this picture worked but because of his colour it doesn't show up very well
