Thanks that's good to know, I think any help with benefits etc is great...its hard to know what and when to claim. I am hoping she will help with Johns medical needs as well and what equipment, care etc he should and will be entitiled to to help him on the road to recovery.

Yes I appointed a care manager after my children's accident. I have found them invaluable for getting things into place, and knowing where to go for professional help. Even just to get advice they have put me on the right track. Certainly recommended through this scary journey, Julie

I am rather cynical about case managers , as it depends who is paying for them? I think if you were single they would be a good help. Our solicitor wanted us to get one but i feel it was an unnecessary expense as they would have been paid out of any compensation due. Their role is to organise appointments, liaison etc and if you need any help getting about etc they employ care workers (normally employed by them) to address the need. We worked out they would be earning more than i would by going back to work and as funds are so bad at the moment we needed the money to pay bills etc. plus i am quite proactive myself (bossy!) so have found out services etc myself! It is a personal choice but find out who is paying for them as remember they are a business! Go off your own gut feel if it would be right for you!
