I didn't see one till almost a year after my accident, mostly due not realisin how serious it was till further into the injury, but I also went private with my work health care. Very fortunate to have this as I very much get the impression that I would have been waiting a long time! I have had to drive and pester everyone to the point of annoyance to get what I need done. A neuropsychologist assessment is roughly £600. My work did say that they would hav paid for this to understand what support is required. I was not aware of this, so possibly an option. apologies if none of this helps, I understand your frustration, hopefully there is something useful there.

My husband saw one whilst in the re hab unit at Castle Hill Hosp. Hull, but she has now left on maternity leave, and guess what....they dont intend to replace her! We have been waiting for a few weeks now for an appt. with someone else, but it sounds like it will be a long wait. It is very unfair, he has emotional issues, and Im sure he would benefit from counselling. He tried anti depressants, but sadly they caused his first seizure by interferring with his Phenytoin levels, so they are out of the question now. Good luck!

Are there any contrary waiting times? Have heard how long it might be but does it always take an extended period of time!

I am trying to get a referral from Dr now.

One source suggests the average waiting time is 6 months, but some got seen up to 11 months later! It all depends on how many neuropsychologists cover your region. I'm absolutely appalled by all this.

Two months, I guess things move faster in the north of Scotland.

Shame on Harrogate PCT. It just goes to show the regional bias when it comes to obtaining health care.
