I have finally got a referral to see a heamotologist and have the option of Wycombe or Stoke Mandeville hospitals. Does anyone have any recommendations. I would specifically like to see a consultant that knows a lot about Heamochromatosis.

Thanks,

Justin

Sorry cant help!

Normally a general Haematologist will look after you, I have CLL and Iron XS. If you have complications form XS iron you will be referred to the appropriate subspecialty, liver, pancreas, diabetes etc as needed. It sort of depends on your presenting Ferritin level. Levels below 1000 may not have a complication. You will need scans of liver etc in any case. Your GP should advise!
