Hi there,

Thank you for your post - we're sorry to read that you're feeling worried. The anxiety before an operation can be difficult to manage, can't it? It's totally understandable.

If you have any questions about the treatment/pre-op etc. that you would like to ask our gynae nurse, please do get in touch with our Ask Eve information service on nurse@eveappeal.org.uk

Best Wishes,

The Ask Eve Team

Thanks, that’s really helpful. Living in a rural area and having to self-isolate and shield just feels a bit lonely, though there is my husband here with me, for which I am v grateful.

Of course - it can be a very tough time, especially if you're isolating/physically far away from others. It looks like you've had some lovely replies from people who have had similar worries/experiences, and again, we're available on nurse@eveappeal.org.uk if you have treatment questions etc. Wishing you all the best,

Ask Eve

Thank you Ask Eve team. I have indeed found the people lovely on here and very responsive especially in terms of timing, which I feel is important on any forum.

Hello Rosado22

I totally understand your anxieties and fears surrounding your surgery. I remember how

frightening my pre op anxieties were. My biggest fear was my op would be cancelled (pre Covid) I wanted the Cancer out ASAP!

I tried to let go of the things I couldn’t change and focused on the things I could.

I spoke to my GP re my anxiety and he prescribed medication for it which really calmed my nerves.

I booked reflexology sessions. I went for long walks with my dog.

I prayed. I cried.

Access what helps YOU Rosa to fill the time between appointments scans and your op date.

You have joined a brilliant site. The ladies are true warriors, very supportive, with their own experiences to share. Your not alone that’s the important thing.

Jackie 😊🙏🌈

Thanks Sisterstogether (Jackie), for your prompt response. Yes, having your op cancelled is a scary prospect. We live on a farm, so I have been for short walks, not long like before as my mass is weighing down on my pelvis. I’ve been doing meditation and I am learning Russian!

Hi Rosado22,What u must remember is that you are already on the path to getting well regardless of any possible changes. In your preop they will check your heart Ecg do your routine bloods and little examination listening to heart and lungs. Ask any questions that are worrying you my advice jot them down before you go. Please try to relax your obgy team are there to help you and will look afteryou. I am a retired (due to ill health) preop clinician. I have also had a radical hysterectomy oophrectomy with cervix removal. Take things slow after surgery and remember you are entitled to be scared /worried this is normal. Feel free to chat again 👩‍🔬

Thanks Garfield x. Just back from pre op, not sure re heart …. As blood pressure high, pulse fast and see what they say re the ecg. However, I can easily go up and downstairs and walk 10,000 steps, swim etc. Never relaxed since the ct scan. Didn’t listen to my lungs. They said anaesthetist might want to give me a 24 hour thing to monitor heart ….

Hi Rosado 22sorry only just seen. Every preop can be different we were very comprehensive. Your bp Blood pressure may have been ellivated as stressed pissibly due to the preop appointment but sound as though you are been well looked after. You sound in general fit but its right to check out tachicardia fast pulse/Heart rate to ensure you are ok to undergo an Anesthesia, the 24hr tape /ecg will give a good idear of your heart status it is wore for the time period and you go about your normal routine. They are smaller than they use to be so shouldnt bother you wearing. Think another step closer to getting there😊
