Not sure if there is a connection between the two, I seem to have my Coeliac under control, but the Rhinitis is going through such a bad phase...

Not sure if it is connected but I have the same. I use Nasonex and anti histamine tablets which keeps everything bearable....

I also have rhinitis. I take loratadine every day. Some days worse than others. I also have a cough. Told it was reflux - no idea really. Had it for years.

I had rhinitis for years before I found out I was coeliac, since going gluten free I havnt had it for years. I also used to suffer terribly with hay fever and allergic to animals, again since going gluten free those allergies have also gone :)

Yes so do I, and it only happend since 2000 and has got so much worse, kept under control by Nazel spray, its much worse when it rains for some unknown reason.

Arh wonder if that is why mine is worse with all the rain, I was in Oz Feb and March (dry sunny weather) and it was good under control, thanks Salzado..

It's always worth discussing this with doctors. There are different sprays and anti-histamines that can help. I've had it for years and found it only improved slightly on a GF diet. It's also worth considering allergy testing. When younger I discovered mine was due to dust + grass pollen from allergy testing. It's also worse in town on hot summer's days with lots of traffic fumes.

For example these have been recommended by doctor and have proved helpful for me:

sterimarnasal.co.uk/product...

netdoctor.co.uk/allergy-and...

Plus loratadine daily.

Personally I find reducing dairy - especially useful. In addition I've also discovered I react to histamine levels in food + drinks e.g. if you get a red rash from drinking wine, eating roquefort cheese (these are very high in histamines) - you may also be reacting to foods high in histamines. We've posted up on this site many times before on this topic - search the tag directory for more info.

I am not able to take loradine in tablet form as can have no dairy Not even soya, yesterday my breathing was so bad I had to take one and was really sick, BUT have found that they make it in syrup form and I have now that, I will take it tomorrow, and see how I go, I have such a bad cough with it as well. so I am pleased that others also are the same, makes me feel better. ;)
