Zero. Coeliac Disease is not a childhood disease that kids grow out of. It is a life-long auto-immune disease. The only way of managing it is a strict gluten free diet that avoids gluten grains and products made from them and also avoids cross contamination from them e.g. via shared butter/ toasters etc.

Why do you ask - has a Dr not explained this to you?

Celiac is for life.

However, there was an article in our local paper where they are trying to develop vaccine for celiac. I think was developed by company in Australia, next step trial drugs will be manufactured here in Agawam, MA, USA.

I've had ceoliacs since I was a baby, unfortunatly they wont grow out of it, however don't be disheartned, I barely notice it anymore- everything I do now is second nature, nothing is a hassle to me now its just a way of life, you'll probably find that growing up with ceolicas your child will probably end up the same as me! :)

How many of you sign up to a coeliac society after diagnosis & renew the year after?

Do you find that in the first year you find it the most useful and the 2nd year you don't need it?...
