Awful cramps

I had a takeaway ( I very rarely do now). Donner and chips the chips fried separately they say. A couple of hours later my stomach was as bloated as a balloon and I could take short breaths. I straight away thought I’d been glutened. But I didn’t get the other side effects like I used to - awful bone pain etc. today I’ve suddenly got an awful stomach/ belly ache it’s constantly there. I’m confused cos it started the day after the takeaway. BUT I’m confused because I’ve come in my period too. Could it be that?? I’m soo confused and in pain… !!!

Oh Junny, I hope you are feeling better now. It is so easy to get cross contamination in this sort of setting, even if the chips were cooked separately. Does the person slicing the donner also stuff the pitta breads? Maybe they used the same board or area for your meat as they use for the pitta breads. Is there any gluten in the meat mix? Sometimes it is mixed with breadcrumbs. The person might have handled pitta bread and then handled your meat. This has happened to me a few times when eating out. Most recently at a work meeting in Sheffield where I was giving a presentation to the Trustees of The Soil Association. All the food was 'gluten free', because of me, except at some point there was cross contamination. I had to leave the meeting three times for an urgent visit to the loo because of this. I followed up with the catering people, and they reached no conclusion. Disappointing.

hi BabsyWabsy. I really don’t know about the way they use their utensils. Yes looks like there must be some Some in the mix. Not having it again 🙈

Fair enough. I have never had one, and doesn't look as if I ever will now.😀

As far as I am aware Donner kebab meat is not gluten free. At the very beginning of my GF journey (32 years ago) I was told this by the owner of the local takeaway who said there is more than just meat in it; much to my surprise! I am not particularly sensitive but have not had one since then, 😢.

I replied to your message but don’t know where it’s disappeared. I can’t seem to find it. 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Thanks anyway for your reply
