Sorry to question you, however are you sure it’s IBSC - have you ever been tested for Coeliac Disease? I ask because constipation, plus intolerance to gluten and dairy are all known Coeliac symptoms. A significant number of IBS cases are actually wrongly diagnosed. Coeliac UK put it this way :
“Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common misdiagnosis in people later diagnosed with coeliac disease. One in four people with coeliac disease have previously been treated for IBS. Symptoms of IBS are often similar to those of coeliac disease. It is important for anyone with IBS like symptoms to be screened for coeliac disease.” (coeliac.org.uk/healthcare-p...
It might be worth having another conversation with your doctor and insisting that they do a blood test for Coeliac Disease (if they haven't already).
If you're UK based then NICE guidelines CG61 for IBS apply to you. They state in section 1.1.2 (Diagnosis tests):
"In people who meet the IBS diagnostic criteria, the following tests should be undertaken to exclude other diagnoses.....- antibody testing for coeliac disease (endomysial antibodies [EMA] or tissue transglutaminase [TTG]). [2008]"
U.K. Doctors have to take heed of these guidelines (that's why they exist!).
Btw, Ttg is the most commonly used blood test in the testing of Coeliac Disease. However you do have to be eating gluten every day for at least one meal for six weeks for it to have any chance of giving an accurate diagnosis.
