Hi hope you're all well..I definitely am!!my family decided to go out for a quick meal and I said I'd rather eat at home - because of the cross contamination n problems after the meal. But they talked me round and said we'll see what there is etc. I went not planning on eating really but at the bottom of the pages I noticed something - gluten free buns and chips available..
I thought omg I can have a burger after almost year!! My family were so happy for me and I really enjoyed the meal 🤗🤗🍔🍔🍔!!
Fantastic it makes a difference when you find somewhere you can trust as most times its not the meal itself its trusting the people who cook your food whether they use clean seperate cooking area and xlean baking trays and utensils. Good luck very hapoy for you.😊
Hi Gwendog I’m also in Argyll and gluten intolerant. I can highly recommend David Carson from wined and dined which I believe has recently moved into the boathouse on west bay. Recently had a meal there and he was very accommodating and understanding of gluten free. One of the tastiest 3 course meals I’ve had for ages! Also the new Queens hall cafe has a small range of gluten free options
I've seen the way this guy treated (the only) 2 people on Twitter who commented on The Boathouse. Shall not be visiting - he seemed think the only way a customer should have a Latte is for them to assemble it themselves, using his 1970's cafettiers. Was not impressed. He did come across as more Basil than Ramsay...
Shall try the Queens Hall though. Not visited since it reopened.
Thanks - have you tried Fintastic? Still amazed at a Dunoon chippie doing edible (to us) takeaways.
This site is probably the closest I get to social media so didn’t see that, and do agree he can be a tad enthusiastic? Although we’ve always been pleased with the food and service the few times we’ve been.
Fintastic has been a god send since diagnosis and the fact it’s the only chippie on just eat is an added bonus!
There's a couple of apps you can download (coeliac map, find me gluten free) to find venues near you
Frankie and Benny's, nandos, zizzi's and hard rock cafe are all chains you can eat at!
When ordering hot chips ask if they use the fryer for any other cooking. If the use it for items with breadcrumbs then you cannot have them. Also some chips had flour on them.
I had some chicken nuggets and baked veg tonight at home. YUM! They are a GF packet from the supermarket. Gosh they cost a lot but I was weary so that's my version of take away.
