Inflammation after gluten

Hi, just getting back to normal, or more like my sort of normal. Every time I am glutened for a half day I am bloated which turns to tired, which the following day I notice my weight increases by around 2 to 3 pounds, this is due to not urinating so much, I then have a really bad lower back pain preventing me from bending, or walking, due to what feels like inflammation within the lower back. The same can be said about my knees, though there is no swelling in my knees, the pain is very evident.

This weight gain and inflammation continues for around 4 to 5 days when I then urinate more often, and then two days after I return to my normal weight, and the inflammation is gone. I can then walk and bend.

Is this a typical response to gluten?

I was tested for Celiac in Feb but was not and had not had gluten for quite some time, yet the consultant said the test would still work, which still surprises me, or was he correct? I was found to be not celiac.

Hello,

I'm new to GF Guerillas, but been GF for 6 years after self diagnosing as having a sensitivity/intolerance to gluten with the help of a 10 years+ GF veteran.

I would say yes, the joint pain and inflammation are typical, for me anyway, of having eaten some gluten, along with a multitude of other symptoms.

The usual advice pre-testing is to eat gluten for at least six weeks, to make sure that you get aa accurate response, so your consultant's statement is surprising.

There is a condition called Non-Coeliac gluten sensitivity which can give you the same symptoms as Coeliac disease and for which there is no test.

My main reaction to gluten, before going gluten free, was joint pain. Hopefully the longer you are on a gluten free diet, the stronger/healthier you will become and your reactions may not be as extreme.
