Hi Patkins, I always thought that Birds custard powder was gluten free, as all the ingredients are.

So does you scanner only list foods in Coeliac UK food list, because if you use their app only items in their food list will be listed, so if a manufacturer hasn't sent them their food list, it won't be listed.

The other thing that you want to be aware of is that the food may well say gf on your scanner but some foods like Branston pickle contain barley malt but are within codex and are listed and they aren't flagged up on your scanner, so if you are sensitive to barley then you still want to check the label.

If in doubt ask the manufacturer so heres a link: birdscustard.co.uk and if it's not gf then please let us know.

I had an issue with bisto gravy granules last week the small jar said no the big yes ok to use. Contacted the company late friday and got a reply today so i think most companies will respond and quickly.

Ps the beef granules are ok to use as are all other varieties if you can tolerate mixed enviroment production.

I use birds all the time with no problems and I react to even a spec of gluten. I have to use lactose free milk though.
