After 1 year of being very careful not to eat gluten I had just taken mayo instead of my gluten free salad cream out the fridge and ate some with a chip only then I realised I had been glutened!! This has actually made me very nervous!

If you have an accidental exposure, I have read that it is best to take Metamucil or fiber to get it out of your system as fast as possible.
Hi Sammyross, firstly I thought that most mayo's were made with gluten free ingredients but regardless of this making a mistake should not make you nervous but help you to be mindful when preparing food. So instead of beating yourself up over it learn by it and remember that the person who never made a mistake never did anything.
When I was first diagnosed I was a single dad with a full time job and I was making my son some sandwiches with overnight dough bread, which I really missed and after I packed his sandwiches away before I realised it I was eating the crumbs with the grated cheese on the bread board. This made me realise how many things I did on auto pilot and I never did it again.
So if you and I have slipped up accidentally, I bet the majority of GFG members have... And I hope you feel better soon.
I never, ever eat gluten intentionally but I have been caught out too. It's horrible, the sudden onset of acute diarrhoea and vomiting. This happened to me after a gf, supposedly, meal in town. It was a Friday night and I was vomiting my heart out on the High Street. I was mortified because I thought everyone would assume I was drunk. Fortunately the diarrhoea didn't kick in until I got home. Now I always keep some Immodium Instant Melts tablets in my purse.
I'm coeliac and I ahve my own wee fridge. it sorts out this problem. Can be realy scary when you ahve to eat out tho.
Hope you are ok later on.

I use a big black marker pen to highlight my GF items, especially butter, jam etc where double dipping can be a problem.
