Eating out at the O2
Hiya sorry never been to O2 but i aways ask ask about what is in food when eating out. I know from friends there are lots of places to eat in the o2 although they are expensive. There are lots of local restarunts nearby and there is a good nodded bar doing rice noodles near cutty shaurk station just jump on bus from there to o2. Sorry my spelling is not great
Hope this helps
Love Lou
Thanks. I've looked online and it seems to be gourmet burger kitchen or Zizi's. Thanks for the info about the queues!
Hi Sally - Ive not been to O2 but this is a helpful thread. Ive been t Gourmet burger company - is that the same thing as the kitchen? if so its great and as you're not having bread you get a portion of their home made coleslaw instead! Gill
My hubby love gourmet burger kitchen, but I've no idea if it's the same as gourmet burger company. Their menu (GBK) has two or three thing's I'm willing to try, such as the goat cheese salad, or chicken. I'm a bit worried as we're travelling on to Italy the next morning, and I really don't want to be caught out on the runway at Heathrow. I'm oversensitive to gluten, so this is my first time eating out in over a year, eek!!
now you've said GBK i think that's it - they seem to understand gluten free and many of their burgers are gluten free so I think you should be fine - I think there's probably less chance of getting glutened here than in some places - e.g. I wouldnt trust pizza hut! Too much gluten flour flying around for my liking! That said Italy is supposed to be really good for gluten free so enjoy yourselves. Gill
ps I think I was thinking of Hand Made Burger Company! Which is also very good except their burgers have Worcester sauce in (which isnt gluten free) and they prepare a number of GF burgers every day so you aren't guaranteed they will have them available - we were on our way last week and fortunately we rang as they didnt have any left so we went somewhere else! I must email them and suggest they use GF Worcester sauce! I really think that restaurants need to give a bit more thought to their GF range as they are missing out - sometimes we would like chips but often they are fried in the same oil as onion rings, or their sauces such as ketchup contain gluten - easy tweaks I think and many of us would eat out more!

Well said! That is such a problem, all the additives that no-one even considers will be an issue. I don't expect a restaurant to be able to cope fully with all my dietary needs, but if it's gluten free, it should be that. But, even if these places are really good, and have asked for advice from Coeliac UK, they will be told many things are okay for some coeliacs which they aren't.................we know the problem areas, the hidden e numbers containing gluten, the permitted amounts of gluten in GF foods, etc etc.
Still, I'll see what GBK holds for me (or Zizzi's maybe).
cheers!
Thanks. Hoping to get into Bologna - home to over 350 restaurants, so can only hope 1 knows about gluten free dining. My friend who lives out there knows some places up in the mountains near Bologna, so I'm hoping for lots of yummy treats.
Ive heard that they are good for GF pasta and pizza and many of their chicken and meat dishes are GF anyway. Please post and let us know - I would love to go to Italy as Ive not been! Gill
