In that socially you tend to drag friends etc to the same old places and hate asking lots of questions of waiters at new places to check things are gf and not contaminated?

Do you feel guilty being a Coeliac..?
Why go to the same old places where you get known and so does your condition? I like to challenge the chef on how they can cater for me as the customer in new places and abroad. As for being "GF" no not for me as I am a diagnosed "super sensitive".
Not any more.
But in the beginning that was a really big issue. I didn't want to be thought of as a pain or draw attention to myself. But 7 years in, that's SO not an issue any more. And now my friends have seen for themselves how sick I get when something happens, they're really accommodating and totally happy to eat where I can eat safely.
But I really do think that this is something that adjusts over time post diagnosis.
I am glad you said it is something that changes over time as I was diagnosed less than a year ago and I still find it makes me cringe when people make a fuss. I would just love to walk into a restaraunt and not have to quiz them over everything! It is ok with family and friends etc but not so much with work or whatever. Glad to hear I will get over it!
